I'm so gonna get slammed for this but...

I'm one of the people who don't think it's such a great idea for the SEALs. In other areas, even certain combat situations such as pilots, snipers, even close quarter gun battles, etc...a woman has equal footing. In covert situations, as CIA or as a spy, a woman would probably be better than most men. But the work involved in almost everything I've ever read about SEALs, requires superior speed and strength. And we're not talking about most guys. We're talking about top athletes. There's a flat out genetic advantage that cannot be ignored. Could a woman match the training standards? yeah, there are probably some that could. But as in real life such as Olympic athletes for example, the best female counterpart cannot physically match the male in speed or strength. So, I would think that a female SEAL would probably be a liability to the team in those situations.

And then there is something else which is totally stereotypical but probably true. For myself, it definately is true. IMHO, the psychological motivation for war and to kill is different for women. Kill our kids (any kid for that matter) or a loved one or even our dog, and absolutely be afraid of this woman. You're dead. Abuse a fellow woman or treat her like shit, and you better believe, we'll be all over it. But these are very personal and emotional reasons. As a gender, physically and I believe psychologically as well, we are nurturers not typically prone to fighting and unprovoked aggression. We typically are lacking the basic biological and chemical levels of testoterone for this. Sexist bullshit aside, this is human nature.

I think it would be smarter to mix genders and create all female units (our bond as sisters in life is just as strong)in areas in which a womans strengths are equal or exceed in the skills they are most suited.
