your argument to support your claim is "we've progressed so our interpretation of the constitution has changed? irrespective of the document?

and that's simply not true- "people" could not do anything they wanted in those parameters"...men could!

and I would suggest that whether women had more rights in Colonial America than the rest of the world is immmaterial -
Being better off than the rest the women in the world is simply not the same as being included with the men!
