Tracy, who used to sail competitively, says that sailors don't wear life jackets in competition. But when my son raced for his high school, he did wear a life jacket (is this a kid versus adult thing?). What about if you're in the Navy? Or a SEAL who falls overboard? If you weren't wearing a life jacket would it be because a) too much weight b) there are lighter, more sophisticated ways to stay buoyant?
