Ok I agree they won't do it...that's why I said
It's not whether we think it WILL be done, but rather if we think it would be a valuable tool against terror, and whether we would be upset if we found out the media lied to NOT create a panic situation. I KNOW they won't do it. I'm asking if we could actually accept the distortion of facts for the good of the people. And suprisingly in my hometown the majority were ok with it.
Look at it another way...what if we start reading terrorist stuff like Elvis sightings. Now really it all has to go to the people. If we don't buy into it they won't try to sell it. And as long as people buy papers claiming to see Elvis they will print it. As long as people buy into terrorist fear, newpapers will sell it.
The question the radio was asking is more along the lines of...how much are we willing to NOT know?
