it doesn't make sense....remember where I have worked for 16 odd years....to "let" someone means that/whether that is the implication it is what is being said...and that leads to the "idea" that you are being "let" to do something....do you "let" him watch the children like he does you?/do you "let" him go to work? see what I mean....the implication...he is calling the shots/you come second or it would be said "we take turns with the kids" or something to that effect...I concerns me when the language doesn't match the language and vis-versa:)
