Ouch!! This question hurts my brain

okay, so China calls our bluff and invades Taiwan--what is our military response?

War strategy..Hmmm I should have played battleship or stratego right? I have no idea here so I'm going to guess.

I'm assuming if China invades Taiwan it would be a surprise attack. They would move hard and fast hoping to incapacitate Taiwan's response, And not give the US time to participate in the initial attack.

Okay so if China does invade Taiwan then I'm also assuming they will use both their air capabilities and their amphibious capabilities and since China has said it is willing to sacrifice millions to prevent Taiwan's independence we can't rule out chemical and or biological, weapons with this assault.

So my first thought was a naval blockade after china invades Taiwan would put China in a position of desperation in 3 -4 weeks right?

But do we want China desperate? Because then won't it use its arsenal of WMD's especially on the blockading Navy? And that would be our guys and the British and Australians right? Can we control the airspace and have a strong enough missile defense system to make this a sound strategy?

But what I hope is we have developed a tailored EMP weapon that we could use on China as a first response and that our aircraft and naval forces are hardened against. Wishful thinking? Or Classified thinking?
