The issue is conflicting principles. The only way to make decisions when you have conflicting principles is by a good moral code.

There's a quote I love: “Never let things which matter most be at the mercy of things which matter least.”

There HAVE to be priorities. Laws don't determine priorities. The future is not static - it's dynamic.
