I think there will have to be a lot of rethinking about how to approach this. What is clear is that this was a fair and democratic election whether we like the result is a bit mute really. Hamas does have the support of the people at grass roots level How have they achieved this? by dealing with the bread and butter issues that people the world over worry about healthcare,education,jobs etc.The one thing I think they will find is that being in government is a lot different than agitating from the sidelines. It will be interesting to see how they cope with that. Will they carry on as a terrorists well that is the big question isn't it. Over here we look at how Sinn Fein and the PLP former terrorist have become politicians in our parliament. Go back 60 years and The Stern Gang in Israel were wanted terrorists many of whom went on to hold very senior positions is the Israeli government.
I think we are going to be in for a bumpy ride. Then again look at what was said about not speaking or negotiating with Yasser Arafat.
Difficult times ahead I think.
