It was a fair election and kudos to Palestine for that

I agree that the fact that Hamas won has to do with their social arm, building hospitals and schools etc.
You wrote about Hamas "The articles also suggest that they will "tone down" now that they are in parliament so to keep the popular support."

So today, I read ALjazeera where admittedly you can't believe everything you read. However it is definitely a pan -Arab source for news. Check out this article ...it doesn't seem toned down to me.

Also in another article it said

"Hamas stands for Islamic Resistance Movement and in Arabic means "zeal".It was founded in 1987 by Shaikh Ahmad Yassin and Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi as an offshoot of the then Muslim Brotherhood organisation during the first intifada against Israel. Hamas is formally committed to establishing a Palestinian state in its own borders and to the destruction of Israel. It has pursued this aim through a series of attacks on Israeli troops, settlers and civilians both in the Palestinian territories and in Israel."

Now if I were Israeli I think I'd have a problem working on a peace process with a group committed to my destruction. Add to that Hamas's link to Iran whose president has said he wants Israel "wiped off the map" it's not looking to good. So where does the peace process standunless Hamas renounces it's commitment to destroy Israel ?
