Are "gin torches" a Southern favourite?

I looked but couldn't find them in my Mr. Boston's bartender guide. And torches made me think of Salem and witches - right state but wrong century and sex ... and crime too, I would think. Would a witch be drowned for writing too little?

So speaking of writers and writing ... hmmm?
