I think that is a great comparison. I lived in CA (LA area) for a little over a year.
The 1st maybe 3 mos, earthquakes were always in the back of my mind. Once I got past that, something just clicked and I realized how useless it was to be afraid of them. Too unknown. No real notice. No control.
Just knowing that I couldn't be prepared for when one might happen but believing in myself that I could deal with any fallout if need be helped.
