Tom, terminology question

Is an embattled parapet (which encompasses the rampart with its turrets and arrow loop openings) what you meant by "designed kill zone" in a castle? It's the innermost and highest spot in a castle, or at least thats how it looks on a diagram. If you have time ... thanks. Janet
