We think that it's a kindness to 'let them be children as long as possible' and in some cases it is. But biologically they are ready to start growing up/grow up at about 13 and that's when they should start getting lots more responsibility.

I think that's why we have some real brats out there now days. All that hormonal energy, all that 'I should be grown up' imperative and no outlet other than gangs, drugs, pregnancies, etc.

If they have the impetus to grow up. Let them. Maybe they won't move back home after college.
