Draft - Ed's Great Uncle went to WW1 at 16.

Although the papers say 17. The let him enlist anyways in 1917. And if he went AWOL - he'd be executed by firing squad. Heavy thoughts and responsibility for a child.

Found the papers in the Cdn Archives on the internet about 6mths ago.

Boys were not boys after about 13 even around WWII. Especially rural. They worked or their families went hungry. I'm not certain keeping children, children as long as we do and not allowing them to grow more as teenagers helps or hinders them.

Have to think about that one.
