Your whole life

if your smart! I got my orders about three months before I had to be at BUDS. I had gotten some advice that basically went, "You can't prepare for a kick in th b@lls but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try" Since I was a pretty good swimmer I spent most of my time running and doing calisthenics--I remeber running and doing the obstacle course in a flak vest---and a lot of running in boots--bunches of pullups---basically I just worked out about 4 hours a day. and it didn't help a bit! :)

you don't need to be a strong swimmer to make it through BUDS (ahhh lightening bolts from the Surf god) You have to pass the initial test which isn't that hard and i in a pool. Then you have a hal milf bay swimm theat isn't too hard. Then you get put into fins--which totally changes the definition of swim--it becomes "Kick" and once you earn your wetsuit, you don't even have to stay afloat--all that said, BUDS is a school and the instructors are there to teach--methods aside--so you can get swimming instruction
