The "Crossing the line ceremony" is a long held tradition in all Navies and most sea going services around the world. It basically revolves around King Neptune transforming dispicable "WOGS" pollywogs, into Hearty Shellbacks. King Neptune also picks a bride, which gets the bride out of some of the ritual as I recall. Neptune is usually the fattest guy on board and getting a grape from his greased belly button is in the ritual somewhere--anyway, it is mostly an excuse for cross dressers to cross dress masochists to get beaten, sadist to beat and for there to be a general breakdown in good order an discipline for a day or two...as two SEAL involvement I have never witnessed--though I am sure it was done at 110% just like everything else--I have only one nipple piercing story which is alleged and has nothing to do with the equator
