I can only imagine...

because I have absolutely no way to identify but what you're describing sounds alot like stories I hear from other ex-soldiers, firefighters, cops, etc.. Working daily in conditions that are life/death, where the team relationship is unbelievably intimate (I mean that in the most pure form of the word). How could every day American life possibly hold any excitement or true meaning?
I've missed alot of your posts so I don't actually know what you do for a living right now. Whatever it is, I can't imagine someone with your background being happy unless you're either kicking someone's ass or saving someone's ass. Well, there seem to be an endless supply of bad people out there who need a good asskicking, and alot of desperate, good people that need their ass saved. I bet a little extracurricular activity in these areas would be very therapeutic. And if all else fails...turn to your diving. Best therapy in the world!
