one place was incredibly unfriendly (our electric company). I really did not like that place. So friendly employees is a must for me. And include the new person....ask them to join you for lunch, or on a break. Part of me wants to say something about a small gift (flowers, chocolates), but that just seems wrong somehow.
So, yep, friendliness and include them.
