what worked for me -

Posted by Chris (FL) on 2/22/2006, 19:44:42, in reply to "Here is my resume...let me know what you think"
the last time I did my resume over- one of the big issues was my "objective" - and I learned that it should state what you are offering your prospective employer, and not what you are trying to accomplish -
eg, something such as:

Objective: To combine my extensive customer service and front office management skills with my inherent undertanding of and compassion for animals.

hey gimme a break, it was my 1st pass at it, :)
although, the resume must be you as well! -

and another big thing is, what do you are want to "showcase" in yours? there different types of resumes that highlighting experience, education, skills, etc. -

the best thing I ever did for my resume - to was go to Barnes or Borders (get a venti latte of course!) for the afternooon and grab 4 or 5 books on resumes -

and really, there is one or more resume for every occupation, every career change and even some for career start-overs in which you have no experience at all - (it's amazing to see how good "hot air" can look on paper, LOL)

and then I just mercilessly started pulling buzz phrases and format ideas from these books - it was the best move I made for my resume-
(everytime I sent out this new resume, I received a call to interview, and that's what sold me on it)-

also here is a link from AOL - that shows types of resumes and sample cover letters for some ideas as well - (cover letter are in resume books as well) hope this helps you -
