you brought laws into it. I'm so totally confused now. lol here's how i understand the debate.

gail doesnt think terrorists should have rights. You think that detainees (and im talking about "enemy combatants" being held in guatanamo bay) have more rights than american citizens.

And i think that these people have no rights whatsoever, that in fact their basic human rights are being violated, and that you (in general) need to be careful when you say certain groups dont have rights because it becomes really easy to apply those ideas to any group that you see fit, as we have seen in the history of both our countries.

and then gail said that you didnt see the patriot act when timothy mcveigh did what he did because you cant put skinny, educated, red necks in detention. well no you cant because they're americans and apparently have access to more rights than enemy soldiers. so i sort of agree.

am i as confused as i think i am or are we all agreeing just saying it in a totally different way. I hate being confused so i may be flogging a dead horse, but i hate not understanding something.
