Re: Marine Corps Special Ops

This is news indeed. The Marine Reconnaissance units was considered like a special forces, because it is trained that way.As the article says the majority will be from Recon.

When I recently read One Bullet Away, Fick said "a bureaucratic decision in the late 1980s kept recon out of the USPOC. The Corps leadership vowed that there would be no "special " Marines and chose autonomy over the command's money and missions.
The result was a slight inferiority complex manifested in brutally hard training."

IMO Recon parallels SEAL training. They even have like a SEAL hell week. Hey the Marines are part of the NAVY. Recon trains in Coronado, need I say more?

Its about time that these guys got their recognition. "Celer, Silens, Mortalis" - Swift, Silent, Deadly."
