So basically you're saying

that if the people making decisions have commitment of character to doing what's right, taking into account past, present, and future generations, then the significance of the sacrifice meets the commitment? But regardless of the rightness of the decision, once the decision is made, the commitment makes it significant?

I don't drink, but sometimes you make me WANT to! :D
