I don't recall (if it was even said) what the administration said would be a "success" for this war besides getting Saddam out of power. Though I understand, and even accept that the war is fluid, it would be nice to have some concrete "milestones" to indicate or determine the "success" of the war.
I think you and Lisa bring up a good point with other "dictators" around the world. I struggle with the notion of wanting the USA to be somewhat "isolationist" or we should help those that don't live in a democracy. Still haven't figured out the concrete answer to that.
