Living under a rock

The husband note said she had been in about 1 1/2 years. The NG has been increasingly deployed since the first Gulf War, 10 years ago. We have been in Afganistan and Iraq both since before she signed up. NG troops have been used extensively in both these wars. To not have had some expectation to be deployed, she must have been living under a rock.

Do I think is it right that the government changes all of these things? No. Do I think the government should live up to its commitments as it expects its citzens to? Absolutely. Should the NG be used the way it currently is? No.

And I think veterans are getting screwed and it is a national shame. There are those in Congress working to increase veterans benefits and fund the benefits already promised, but that has been deemed too expensive.

When my husband joined the Navy, it was between GI bills, so he qualifies for nothing. I bet most people do not even know that there are a whole group of veterans that get no benefits at all.
