The movie sounds great

Thanks for the heads up - I'll rent it when my children are home at Christmas. You didn't think, surely, that I was advocating self mutilation as a tactic? Mic's question just reminded me of that anecdote.

Speaking of handicapped persons serving, FDR running the country during WWII ... quite inspiring.

p.s. On a much lighter note, do you remember talking about your son and how one of his comrades said to you, (paraphrasing) we have a lot of down time and we chat amongst ourselves and I know quite a lot about you. Well, that didn't sound very believable to me. Fast forward to this Saturday night: my son had two geological friends visit and one of them, a chap from Australia, said to me that when he and my son had spent two months together traipsing around the Himalayas, that they had had a lot of time to talk. I quote, "So I feel I know you quite well." So, Maureen, I stand corrected. Fortunately, my life is an open book, no worries at all. jkw
