I suspect a lot of people have children they don't want because it's "expected" and then fob said children off on relatives or stuff them in daycare all the time so they don't have to deal with them.
To be fair though, some of my co-workers planned to have X number of kids and just timed them so they wouldn't have to deploy (a 2-for-1 deal to them).
