Resistance does not require fear

I've paraphrased Tom's words a bit. The model of how a city recovers from an earthquake is a useful one. After the World Series earthquake the Bay area picked itself up and rebuilt and life went on. You can't live in fear of an impending earthquake - or else no one would ever live here. There are lessons to be learned ... and the response of the government to terrorists makes us feel more fearful, not less.

Use the lessons of history: read about how Londoners coped during the Blitz. It was carry on and live as normally as possible - yeah, use the air raid shelters but when the sirens aren't wailing, drink champagne at the Ritz (which stayed open) after the end of the business day.
