nerve shocking

Posted by Erika on 11/23/2005, 15:01:56, in reply to "Doctors"
I had some of my nerves shocked and it works ok without being hideously painful. The idea is they overstimulate them enough so that they shut off, then, when they reactivate and recover, they don't overreact any more. It sounds really radical, but in practice, it's not that bad (it's not like they are doing it in her brain.

My advice is to make sure she is able to sleep well. I had serious issues for YEARS because low level pain didn't allow me to get restful sleep. Acupuncture (and a lot of it) helped so much that I haven't had to take prescription drugs to sleep, wake up, or combat pain for about 4 years now. I also take Valerian root to help me sleep. So if your friends daughter is sluggish, cranky, and constantly in pain, have your friend make sure she does something to help her sleep well. Not sleeping well increases pain sensations and it's a vicious cycle.

Good luck!
