Delta had incredible talent---really superior mix of folks that were extraordinarily complementary. OIC was weak, Platoon had problems—was about to be disbanded and the CO said—“Hey, Rancich---want a shot at these guys?” Jumped me up by about18 months, so I said yes---we became something to behold—I mean seriously. We had an exercise at the end of our deployment and we beat it in 14 hrs—problem was the exercise was suppose to be two weeks—so they changed the rules and we beat it again—nother change and we beat it—they gave up—huge fun
