What we need is to have every single freakin' politician and their kids serve on the front lines some place like Iraq. Maybe then they will think long and hard before sending people out to die.
And do we now include women in this compulsory service? Or is it just men?
Personally, either way, I am NOT a soldier. Grew up in a military family, and am extremely AGAINST compulsory service. No matter the war, including WWII, I would be a conscientious objector. Period.
Maybe I'm being cynical here, but gaining knowledge and encouraging political interest so that everyone is aware of all the facts and everyone is interested in national debates isn't going to do a darn thing. The policians will just get better at lying is all. Money is the name of the game. Money is power and the individual has no chance against that.
