to the American Revolution when we were 'under the gun' so to speak by British troops. And then the mentality was cemented in our souls after the Civil War with the occupation and 'restoration'. It was from this period that the Posse Comitatus was formed. We do NOT want military on our streets. Period.

Military is not a 'peacekeeping force' They are warriors and that is what they do very very well. That is their function. National Guard is there to 'guard the nation'. There's a big difference in the mentality between the two.
