It was from this period that the Posse Comitatus was formed. We do NOT want military on our streets. Period.
Military is not a 'peacekeeping force' They are warriors and that is what they do very very well. That is their function. National Guard is there to 'guard the nation'. There's a big difference in the mentality between the two.
