Again it depends

Water temperature air tempurature duration of mission etc. The problem with doing a mission in dry suits is the likilihood that they will become wet suits due to a tear--and a leaky dry suit is really dangerous. So if it is cold enough to require a dry suit, I would try to find a way to change out (dry suits are pretty quick because you can wear you BDUs under them) If I have a few mile swim in to do a short mission, I dive a wet suit--it all varies...we were doing a CSAR exercise in Hurlburt Fla. We cast in and conducted this long riverine partol in zodiacs---we had decided to stay in wet suits for that patrol because it was cold and we would be in and out of the water--well, three hours of river patrol and we are all miserable cause our skin is itching big time--so we got as far as we could go up river, set security changed out of the wetsuits into BDUs at which point it began to pour rain--worst thunderstorm I've ever seen---oh well
