Tom,question about Seals and Psych, also terrorism thoughts.

I'm at home making jam and thinking about the board and a lot of your discussions on terrorism. I am a psych person so my mind extrapolates and I wonder does all your studies of terrorism carry over into terrorism on smaller scales, like parental terrorism of children, spousal terrorism, bullying in school. Is the psychology the same? Can we assume that the making of a car bomber correlates with the making of a Columbine shooter? Have you learned info in your think tanks and life experience with war and terrorists that are universal in the development of terror as a form of control that easily moves into the understanding of American society and how to live in it day to day? I guess practical demon keeping strategies. In reverse if you study the psychology of what makes someone live with a terrorist(abusive spouse etc) can you better understand a whole society that embraces terrorism as a way of life?i.e Palestine and Israel.

My other thoughts are different. If you take a group of highly trained, intelligent, out of the box, creative, high energy guys(like SEALS) and expect them to contiually evolve and personally expand themselves and their overall capabilities, how does said SEAL continue to take orders without question? How does a person of your strength reconcile himself to having someone else in charge? You readily admit that the higher ups are often not as trained or the best decision makers. So what is the psychology behind being out of the box thinkers yet always at someone elses mercy when it comes to orders? My understanding about the military is that you cannot say no without severe reprimand. So what keeps this self actualized man with the ability to not get court marshalled. Do men find it harder to be soldiers as they mature into thier own power? Sorry so long. I guess I had too much time to think. I thank you for whatever part of this you wish to answer. Rose
