I'm right with you. If we changed it to "One nation, under Allah" would it still be ok for the Christians to say?

Arguing that "under God" is not important is saying that the pledge is unimportant, because the underlying meaning of its parts is worthless.

Personally, I leave out the under God, while cringing. But the rest is fine.
