My story

Posted by Kelly on 9/29/2005, 12:25:34, in reply to "In the spirit of Romance..."
Such wonderful stories…I love hearing how people fall in love.

Some of you know my story, but for those of you who do here it is.

I met Mike in a bar while in college. At the time I worked for an answering service, and I had gotten off work at 8:00 that night, a friend who also worked there got off at 10:00 and she called me and said, “I had a fight with my boyfriend, I’ll be at your apartment in 10 minutes..we’re going out”, I’m like, “no, can’t do it, got a criminal justice paper due tomorrow, haven’t started it”…so 10 minutes later I’m on my way to a bar. We arrive at the bar, get a table, and a couple of table over I see two guys…one of them so handsome I want to die, my fantasy man….tall, lean, black hair; dark eyes. I say to my friend, “see that guy over there, I wish he would ask me to dance”. A short time later fantasy man comes to our table and says, Hi, would you like to dance? I assume he’s asking my friend (who is a petite cute little blonde) instead of me the shy; not tiny; OK looking redhead, so I sit there and don’t respond, then I realize he’s looking at me not my friend, and I say “are you asking me?”, he smiles and says, “Yes” and holds out his hand. So we dance, he says, “I’m Mike”, I introduce myself, we dance some more, then go back to his table and talk. My friend has since run into a male friend of her’s. After a while, Mike says he has to go, his friend wants to head home, and they are from Battle Creek (about 35 min. away from K’zoo). I don’t want him to leave, so I blurt out I can take you home if you don’t want to leave. He says are you sure? I assure him I am, and he hands his keys to his friend and tells him to park the car out front of his parent’s house. I drive him home, we park in the alley next to his parent’s house, and talk for hours, during which time I discover he gives amazing kisses. I finally leave around 4:30 am, get lost getting back to the highway, and get home at 6:00 am…my roommate is not happy wondering where I am. Anyway, I had to still write my paper, so I sleep for an hour, skip my morning class, write the paper, turn it in (got an A BTW). We see each other as much as we can from then on….2 weeks later, he asks me to marry him, I tell him I have to think about it, and tell him yes on April fools day. We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary this past April 23rd.

Kelly
