China

In what way do you feel China is positioned to clean our clock? China has mandatory education for all children for 9 years beginning at age 3. After that, students must pass special exams to continue to their versions of Jr. High, Sr. High and College. I was surprised to discover that college tuition and living arrangements there are free. Testing for progression in education is based not only on academic success but moral values. Morals are also part of the curriculum in all grades. Would you teach morals in your education system? How would you define morals? Would you endorse a similar system that requires testing for progression? I realize you said you weren't an educator (that's debatable) and that you didn't have an exact system planned. But you brougt up the Chinese education system and I'm curious what you find appealing about it.
My half-Chinese (had to mention that with all this discussion) DH is not automaticaly wrong sometimes he agrees with me. I'm such a reasonable woman :-)
