You're not so bad yourself, Kristy.

You make a really good point! Jeff and I did some research into homeschooling when our oldest was still a toddler because we were dissatisfied with the school district we were living in at the time. However, we got the opportunity to buy a house (an old, old farmhouse) in a suburb where the school district is one of the best in our state. But for us it wasn't just test scores, that this district put out it was the extras that they were trying to give their kids as well. Things like being able to take band or orchestra starting in 3rd grade, starting a foreign language in 4th grade and the extras in teaching the core subjects... ie, our 5th grade classes (of which my dd is in) are going to camp next week for 3 days. They tie it in to the school's science unit but it teaches them so much more. And what we have found with our principal and teachers is that they all(at least the majority in my experience) want to be here. They are not just coming in at 8:00 and leaving at 4:30 to collect a paycheck... they are watching, learning from the kids as well.
