This is why

A person should know that entering into any action that seriously presents a challenge to those in power has to be willing to bring about the death of anyone who knows them and themselves.

I had a very wise prof in 1970 that told our history class that those of us tempted to get involved in a second American revolution by joining SDS/Weathemen that we should get ready to die and possible have our friends and relatives die too. But that if we were serious about revolution, then we had better be prepared to point a gun in the face of our own mothers and to pull the trigger if she opposed us. Because that is what a revolution takes, the willingness to kill anyone who opposes you and what you plan to do. You must be ready to kill anyone if you even have the slightest thought that they might oppose or betray your cause.

Revolution is war and war has no conscious. Just ask the families of the disappeared in Argentina, the citizens of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, the family of the American woman now in a Peruvian Prison because she was naive enough to get involved with someone from The Shining Path Revolutionary forces. Anyone in Northern Ireland during the troubles of the seventies. So before anyone goes off to join a Peoples Army, they need to consider themselves already dead.
