Rangers use to wear black berets until some moron (lots of stars but a moron)let everyone in the Army wear black Berets..so now I think they are trying tan berets--but regardless of what they wear they are not SOF--they are called a third Tier unit, which means they support SOF--that said, when in direct support of a Tier 1 Unit, they are considered SOF.
