Bodily injury

It occurred to me, as I’m reading Cindy Dees’ latest (where she beats up on her SEAL team) , that Suz’s SEALs are pretty darn lucky. With a few exceptions (O’Leary got killed in one, and others injured), her boys come out of most situations unscathed. Wait, I guess Joe Cat did end up in a helo crash. And Frisco did have his knee shattered. And Bobby ended up shot. And Mitch lost his memory for a while. And Crash got wounded in a firefight. And Tom (no, not you, the fictitious one…) got thrown for a loop. And Sam got shot. Wildcard got beat up. Well, okay, so she dings them up pretty good. So – what is my point?

Tom, SEALs are human beings, and, while they put the human body though a lot and live to tell about it, SEALs do get hurt. You’ve been there, done that. Any other injuries besides those sustained in the helo crash? You’ve globe trotted and probably came into contact with a variety of nasty bugs, even though I assume you get the standard immunization workup. Ever been sick as a dog on an op from indigenous flora/fauna, or from trying the local cuisine? I think everyone knows to avoid drinking the water. Ever had to deal with another team member injured or ill? And I’m NOT counting the morning after the night before… That comes under the heading of ‘self-inflicted.’ Airsick? Seasick? (Do Navy guys get seasick??) How much training in first aid is required for the teams?
