Maybe you should start with trying to contibuting more articles to newspapers, including OP/Ed pieces and magzines. Have you queeried The Dertroit Free Press, Christian Science monitor, the Economist ?

Do something so totally commercial Like a Seal and the French-tramp reporter novel with a lot of who-ha action. Say more than 007, but less Ron Jeremy. This will get you some mainstream pub creds and then allow you to do something serious.

Yannoo Tom Clancy started out in magazines and also self published books that he sold out the back of his car.
