actually. I think the drinking culture exists in both---certainly exists whereever I am--but the Brits accept it and allow it to run its course (You still have booze on ships and how I like to visit them after a month or two (nother funny)) Us Yanks fight it and try and control it--so American ship pulls into port and the crew runs to the nearest bar and gets sh!t face. A British ship pulls into the same port and the crew walks to the nearest bar and gets sh!t faced--err I mean pissed---much more civilized. General Order Number 1 in Iraq and Afghanistan was no alcohol--which did nothing except make liars out of an otherwise honorable bunch of guys and gals----oh, and it did tighten relations between us and the Norwegians
