Profound for sure. It does seem easier to choose death when you think that may be the outcome anyway. I'd hate to submit and not fight only to have that be the end result. I can see how you would need to be stronger to submit.

So now I'm wondering since SEALS never leave anyone behind, does it make it any easier(not the right word for sure) to not quit because you know the caliber and commitment of the guys who would try to rescue you?

Along the same thought... is it easier(bad word choice again) to know when you plan a rescue operation for a SEAL or other SF that you know these guys aren't giving up. So when you are putting your life on the line there's a better chance of success, or is that all irrelevant?
