If you don't chg the program or make exceptions etc

Once upon a time... longer than I wish to admit to :) I majored in Engineering. One year as part of the Univ annual open house we did a display of "women in engineering". Our class had gone from 35 to 60 when we started and Guelph unlike the rest had 25% women to most schools under 10%. So either the boys played nice or they lost out... they needed our help as much as we needed their's.

But that was the problem. The admin wanted to know how to change the program, add more scholarships, modify the courses etc to have more women in the program. I hope to this day that they never did that. Could you see the backlash from the male students and I wouldn't blame them.

I don't think women expect preferential treatment, just a chance to try, and if they succeed a chance to do the job they are trained for with as much respect as anyone else on their "team". Wherever that may be.
